When Monotype invented the original hot-metal type composing machines and founded the Monotype corporation in 1897, Monotype has been committed to supplying typefaces of the highest quality.
The Monotype Typeface Library contains a wide range of original typeface designs and historical revivals. Some of the best known typefaces include Baskerville, Bell, Bembo, Centaur, Garamond, Gill Sans, Plantin, Rockwell, Walbaum and perhaps the most well known typeface in the world, Times New Roman. The library currently holds over 2 000 typefaces, including over 200 Non-Latin scripts.
Monotype's first achievement in Chinese Language goes back to 1920 when a font was cut to print a New Testament.
